Mad Hatter's Tea Party

You can always count on Hope and Gloria putting on a good party and that’s just what they did!

On Saturday, the 15th of August, Hope and Gloria threw a “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” for the community and as a charity event. Hope and Gloria Volunteers were up for madcap fun in fancy dress along the “Mad Hatter’s” theme. They welcomed everyone into the shop for fun and delicious homemade treats as a part of their “High Tea” being served that day especially with all proceeds going to their three charities, Vineyard Compassion, E3 Initiative and Sports Academy. There was also a £1 Café tent set up on the street for passer-bys, a live rabbit pet by many happy children, a photo-booth, face painting and craft for the children. All in, the experience was full of fun for customers with the added bonus of it raising nearly £400 extra that day just for the charities. (That’s a lot of cake!)

Tori Sheppard, Director of Women’s Ministry at Causeway Coast Vineyard said, “We take the ‘One-Stop Feel-Good Shop’ motto seriously at Hope and Gloria. Events like these give us a chance to give a gift of joy to our community and we love every minute of it. Hope and Gloria is so much more than just a shop: it’s a place for us to give love away, and we are delighted with the number of smiles that were produced at our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party!”

“We hadn’t done a party or charity event just like it before, and we wanted to find out if it would be something that the town would enjoy AND we could make some extra funds for the charities. It was a great experiment, and now after doing it, we would definitely like to do it again! Next time we’ll make it even bigger and better and hope to raise even more funds for our charities,” said manager of Hope and Gloria Rachel Blair.

That’s good news! You can follow Hope and Gloria on Facebook and Twitter to find out more about their everyday “One-Stop Feel-Good Shop” and to hear news of upcoming events, workshops, and charity campaigns.
