How You Can Help

You are a remarkably generous community and last weekend we discovered again your willingness to get involved in what God is doing in this moment in our community.  One lady wanted to help disciple others but had limited time so she offered £1000 to help buy bibles for new believers. She wasn’t the only one offering to help. Many of you were asking “How can we help?”

We wanted to highlight five specific ways you can participate in the good works God has prepared in advance for us to do.

Prayer Support:
One of the best ways you can help is to pray for us. We are inviting everyone to take 4 minutes each day to pray for four specific things. We are calling it #Pray4. So here are four areas you can pray4 in this current time:

#Pray4 WORKERS for harvest. Ask the Lord to send out workers (Matthew 9:37-38)
#Pray4 FAVOUR upon us. Ask the Lord to be gracious to us and bless us. (Psalm 67:1, 6-7)
#Pray4 NEW BELIEVERS. Ask the Lord that they would be rooted and established in love (Ephesians 3:16-19)
#Pray4 CCV LEADERS.  Ask the Lord for wisdom for our leaders (James 1:5)

You can encourage others to pray by including the #Pray4 hashtag on tweets, instagram or Facebook.

Personally Increase your reach.
In addition to preparing your heart, you want to prepare your story. Become skilled personally in leading people into life. We are not trying to get everyone who comes to faith to come to our church. We would love to get everyone in our church to lead people to faith. We have several environments where you can learn to become more effective in sharing faith with others. One coming up is our Capacity day training. This is happening on Saturday 5th April between 9am - 4pm. The cost for the day is £5. You can show your interest for this event at the information on Sunday or by emailing our office. We also have other events coming up, so look out for our "miracle question training" and "invest and invite" times.
Whether you come to all of these, some of these or none of these can we encourage you to personally increase your reach. Join God in bringing life to others.  We are clearly in a moment where our community is receptive to the good news of God through Jesus, let’s make the most of every opportunity

Participate as a Trainer
People are responding to the good news but don’t yet have the requisite understanding. (Matthew 13:19)  Help us help them understand what God is doing in their life and in the world by becoming a trainer. At the moment there are a few ways you can help us train people who are coming to faith. You can train within our gathered environments. You can engage in One2One apprenticing or you can become a half hour hero.

All of these are great helps in people staying relationally and spiritually connected. It also helps us grow. Paul writes, “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” (Philemon 6) If you want to grow and help others grow at the same time, we are hosting some time immediately after the service on Sunday 6th April where we can talk together about what is involved in training others.

Provide Resource
Reaching and training lots of new believers is a little like having lots of new babies all at once. It’s expensive. It costs more time, energy and money than anyone expected. There are lots of ways you can help provide resources. Here are a few:

Buy Bibles: If you would love to be part of the story then a great way is to contribute towards the purchase of bibles.
Buy New Believers devotionals: Help kickstart someone on their faith journey.
Buy Coffee: We have arrangements with a couple of coffee shops that allows us to immediately connect those who are coming to faith. It all mounts up. Maybe this week you could skip a coffee to give a coffee so that someone can hear more of the story.

Help call new believers
Help administrate the new believers process
- If you would like to help in any of these areas, then our office will be able to point you in the right direction.

Play your part at church and work.
Often those who come to faith do so during lunch break. Many of them then return back to work or school. These new believers are going back to work/schools having encountered God and (we hope/trust) as increasingly transformed people. God has already strategically positioned you in that environment. You are at their workplace or school and you are the models of what it is God is up to in the world, how he is recreating all things for His glory and bringing people to faith for the sake of the world.

“Your lives are echoing the Master’s Word…the news of your faith in God is out. We don’t even have to say anything anymore - you’re the message.” (1 Thessalonians 1:8 - The Message)

Live your story. Live His story. Play your part at work. Be a model of how grace is transforming a life. You don’t have to have it all together.
Play your part at work. Play your part at church. Become a voice of hope. Talk about the great things that God is doing. Encourage others with the stories of life change. Speak positively.

"All of us are Christ’s body, and each one of us is a necessary and separate part of it." (1 Corinthians 12:27 - NLT)

So go ahead, play your part and let’s together explore how far the kingdom goes as we give it away .
