CAP Course Hits Schools w/ PAIS

On 7th February, our PAIS team and CAP Centre joined forces to commence our work in our local schools. Around 60 pupils from Key Stage 4 plus several teachers, got to participate in the lively, engaging sessions.

There were fun sessions with prizes, budget balancing exercises, video sessions including ’Sam’s story’ as well as Lauren’s painful experiences of falling into debt at a young age and much more.

The pupils and teachers heard all about the work of their local CAP debt centre and were encouraged to ‘reach out’ to someone in debt.

In one of the sessions pupils were warned about how easily they could soon be able to access a lot of credit including pay day loans and how quickly such forms of credit can lead to a downward spiral of debt which in many cases can have disturbing, even life-threatening consequences.

The very attentive, wonderfully responsive pupils also set financial goals, were encouraged to develop the ‘savings habit’, and heard about how God cares deeply about every area of our lives including our money. In fact, as they heard, the subject of money is one of the most mentioned subjects in the Bible with around 2,500 references!

Finally all present were left with a challenging verse from the New Testament about how God wants us to learn to be content with what we have:

‘I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty, I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.’ -Philippians 4:12
