Dreams that Shape the City / Day 19

Psalm 126

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,

we were like those who dreamed.

Our mouths were filled with laughter,

our tongues with songs of joy.

Then it was said among the nations,

‘The Lord has done great things for them.’

The Lord has done great things for us,

and we are filled with joy.

Restore our fortunes, Lord,

like streams in the Negev.

Those who sow with tears

will reap with songs of joy.

Those who go out weeping,

carrying seed to sow,

will return with songs of joy,

carrying sheaves with them.

As we begin what we pray will be an inspiring, significant and life-transforming weekend at CCV, we want to take time to pause and reflect on God’s incredible goodness and faithfulness to us.  Our church started as a group of 6 people meeting together in 1999 with a dream to live differently and make a difference.  This Friday evening and Saturday over 1000 women will gather to worship God, soak in His presence, listen to His Word, laugh, cry, pray and enjoy just being together.  Then, on Sunday morning, Martin Smith will lead us in celebrating all that the Lord has done as we each have an opportunity to invest generously in the God-sized dream and expanded vision for our Compassion Centre.

While we know that the Father has so much more ahead for us, it is good that we marvel in worship and wonder at all the dreams we have already seen fulfilled.  This has always been about more than building a great church – it’s about bringing life to a whole city.  It is not only about seeing individuals encounter the transforming power of Jesus, as much as we always celebrate that.  It is about seeing hope restored to every sector of society, businesses thriving, education flourishing, unemployment reduced, self-worth increased, creativity released, relationships reconciled, brokenness healed, the disenfranchised empowered and the vulnerable protected.

Please join us in praying for all that takes place this weekend.  Also, take a few moments to think about the part you can play in bringing life to our city through this opportunity to give towards the Compassion Centre.  Specific giving envelopes will be provided on Sunday.  However, if you’re not going to be around this Sunday, you can still give through the church office or by bank transfer.  Details can be found on our website - please use reference: SURNAME/CATC.  Let’s pursue this God-sized dream together.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 9.30am, 11.30am and 7.00pm.
