Sacred Space - Stewarding the Dream
24 June 2012

Is there a desire or dream that God has given you, which has lingered for so long it feels like it has gone dormant? Collaborate with God, He too is a dreamer. He knows the desires of your heart, and He allows himself to be vulnerable to our dreams. “You underestimate how much of God’s heart you share when you are aligned with it.”
Dreams and ambitions are given by God. They are to be received not with suspicion but with thanksgiving to Him.
‘Stewarding the Dream’, a powerful title for an influential evening at the Arcadia, Portrush. A night led by Dave Lynas to “redeem the dream.”
Dave read Proverbs 13:12 -
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life
This verse for me truly highlighted how much God wants us excel and is giving us permission to dream. He has put a relentless pursuit of success in us and He wants to see a generation of people realise their dreams and so should we.
Dave’s first point stressed the fact that your dreams should be a ‘delegated responsibility.’ God provided the plan, so don’t forget to let Him help. He also said that ‘God doesn’t just want to do things for you; He wants to do things through you.’ What a stunning and prevailing quote. If that doesn’t make you want to jump up and surrender your trust in Him all over again, I don’t know what will. He’s waiting for our dreams.

“Invest in the dream, dreams cost you something.” Dave read Matthew 25:14-30, I think verse 29 summed up a lot of the evening for me. ‘Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this “play-it-safe” who won’t go out on a limb. Throw him out into utter darkness.’ “The dream takes time.”
No one ever said it would be easy, God never promised anything in the Christian walk would have an uncomplicated path, but He did promise He’d never leave your side.
To steward our dreams and ambitions in a manner pleasing to God, requires that we are rightly motivated.
“Where you invest your love, you invest your life.” So risk big, make sure that your dreams aren’t a wasted opportunity.
Dave quoted Bill Johnston with, “If you live cautiously your friends will call you wise, you just won’t move many mountains.” The creator of the universe told us, with faith that we could move mountains, so why would let ourselves fall short of this?
Grasp your dreams, run with them and never stop. Never forget to co-labour with the Master because He is a dreamer and he is looking for people that will dream His dreams with Him.

A night that proved to me anything is possible; all you need to do is take what is in your hand and use it.
When the band played, I had never felt such a peace within my heart until then. I had no choice but to lift my voice and my hands; in that moment I truly believed that even I could touch heaven from earth.
The offering was passed around, with a difference, we took £1 out. As a group, Sacred Space threw an interesting challenge to us, the £1 challenge. With £10 Sacred Space showed an encouraging video of how 10 people aimed to change Coleraine. So by giving us £1, they wanted to see what we could do.
Sacred Space is fuelling an evident fire in the hearts of this group. Use what is in your hand and in your heart. Run with it, dream with it and make it happen. But never forget who put it there.
