Handbags & Gladrags
16 February 2012

To All The Wonderful People who made Handbags and Gladrags 2012 such a roaring success…..THANK YOU!!!!
Because of you, 550 people came through the doors over Friday and Saturday and that isn’t including the 90 volunteers who worked to make Handbags and Gladrags happen over those 2 days.
Because of you, we raised over £4000, well £4430 to be precise, that will go towards the Compassion work of the Hope and Gloria Emporium….you have been a part of a beautiful thing!!
And for those women that came, we hope you loved the shopping and the bargains, but we also hope you loved the pampering: the nail bar, the hairdressing, the Sparkly Barclay airbrush tattoos (didn’t the kids love those!), and the hand, neck and back massages, and prayers for healing too. And who could forget the endless supply of cakes, brownies, shortbread, marshmallow twizzles, tea and “Ground” coffee? Weren’t we absolutely spoiled!

We want to send very special and heartfelt thanks to Ground, LSFX, Lynas Foods, Contemporary Cakes, The Stables Flower Co., Boots, Heidi Scrimgeour (our very own writer and press officer) every workman/ builder/electrician who worked tirelessly to bring the shop to life with enormous thanks to Stephen Hogg, with thanks to Evelyn Thompson and Louise Parkhill for stuffing every bag, to Hayley Blues for extraordinary printing and support, to the ever supportive and inspiring leadership of CCV, to every woman who sorted clothes for months before in preparation (especially Joanne McCracken and Karen Wright) and every MAN who carted things around for us to and fro and who were always lovely and incredibly helpful…to all these people and for every single person who gave your support to Handbags and Gladrags….we send to you our gratitude and celebrate the success of all that you invested to make this happen.

We especially honour Jude Burrows and Georgina McMichael (along with their cunning advocates, Michael Lorimer and Peter Lynas) for believing in the dream of a Compassion Fashion shop that could truly be a “one stop…feel good shop” bringing hope on the high street, expanding the idea of Handbags and Gladrags, and raising funds all year round for Compassion projects locally (like the Sunday Food Giveaway and CAP debt counselling) and in Africa through the E3 Initiative (fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS ) and OAM Sports Academy. This “dream” is coming true…and all of you who helped with or came as a guest to Handbags and Gladrags have been a part of turning this dream into reality…..the grand opening is Saturday! As Handbags and Gladrags comes to an end…we are just at the beginning of our new adventure, The Hope and Gloria Emporium….We celebrate her launch!!

With huge gratitude from the leaders of Handbags and Gladrags 2012…
