I just wanted to update everyone on the exciting new venture that we launched at Compassion. It's called Making Moves Coleraine, and it's in collaboration with SCNI (Simon Community).
It is the first time that this has happened in the Coleraine area where we have representatives from Northern Ireland Housing executive, Causeway coast and Glens council (energy efficiency), Careers service NI, CAP, Vineyard Compassion, Women's Aid, Extern (rehabilitates ex offenders), and Cedar Foundation ( gives advice to people with disabilities), all together under the one roof on the one day in a "one stop shop" giving advice on, debt, housing, emergency provisions, domestic violence, tenancy support, disabilities, education and training, employment/self employment and isolation.
We held our first session today and we were very encouraged by the response and the amount of people who availed of this service and the referrals that were made to each organisation during this time.
One client came out with a big smile on her face and said " I am so excited, I didn't realise that I could get a grant to have my loft insulated, that means that my house is going to be warmer this winter"!
The response from everyone involved was very positive and we are so excited and privileged that we are able to partner with key agencies in our community in being able to offer the best help and advice to those who come.
The Making Moves hub, runs every Wednesday fortnight (next one 14th Oct) from 11.30am to 12.30pm in the Pink room .
