Letter from Alan

Dear Vineyard Family,

Over the last few months several of our family have been diagnosed with cancer, many more are journeying heartache at home, others are caring for elderly relatives, while others process the pain of losing a loved one. The bible is real clear in these moments…rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. @ Romans 12:15

I have always loved the way we hold the tension between living with promise and pain. At Vineyard, we have a theology of hope. We also have a journey of suffering. These two rightly belong together. The ancient writer said it best, Suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character and character hope. @ Romans 5:3-4

The outcome of suffering is hope. Yet the process of suffering is painful.

With that in mind, we want to create places where no heart stands alone: places where people can press into God while processing pain. I am thrilled that we are able to offer (in addition to our bereavement journey) a new short term group for those wrestling with cancer. Our Life beyond cancer group will last 3 meetings and will be led by our community Pastor Ali Knight. Carol Thompson who works in palliative care will assist Ali.

If you are living with cancer and would love to connect with others who are on the journey, this is the ideal group for you. Aside from standing with each other, praying together, and exploring scripture, there will no doubt be much laughter and not a few tears. You can contact Ali directly at Ali@causewaycoastvineyard.com for more details and exact dates.

In the meantime, can I invite all of you, our Vineyard family to pray for those journeying hard times at this time knowing that what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will give us later.

Blessings,

Alan
